Learning tips

A Russian study routine you can keep

Short, focused practice works better than waiting for a perfect free afternoon. Use this plan to balance reading, listening, and speaking.

Four-week reset

One priority each week

  1. Week 1

    Make Cyrillic automatic

Read signs, names, and short words every day. Accuracy matters more than speed.

  2. Week 2

    Build complete phrases

Learn useful sentence patterns instead of collecting isolated words without context.

  3. Week 3

    Train your ear

Replay short native clips, notice stressed syllables, and repeat one sentence at a time.

  4. Week 4

    Speak before you feel ready

Describe your day, ask simple questions, and treat corrections as useful information.

Daily practice

Use three different modes

Reading, listening, and speaking reinforce different parts of the same language. Even ten minutes in each mode creates a more complete session.

Read

Mark stress and read a short paragraph aloud.

Listen

Replay a short clip until key phrases stand out.

Speak

Summarize what you learned without reading notes.

Keep doing

Habits that produce progress

  • Review difficult material after one day, one week, and one month.
  • Record yourself occasionally so you can hear changes in pronunciation.
  • Keep a small list of mistakes you want to notice in your next conversation.
  • Choose content that is understandable but still contains a few new details.
  • Measure what you can now do in Russian, not only how many words you studied.

Make your study plan personal

A lesson can help identify the next skill that deserves your attention.
